Please ensure that you have the configuration set up with Kinetic Smart before starting to load any development devices.
Before you begin, if you already have the OTG cables for USB stick downloading and want to load directly that way – please follow the instructions here instead.
Loading Tool
In order to load the Castles MP200 or Vega3000 device, you will need the Loader.exe tools from the vendor. These can be downloaded here:
https://help.kineticsmart.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Castles_Loader.zip
Note that the MP200 and Vega3000 do not use the same Loader.exe, you will need to specifically use the application for the target device.
Download Cable
In addition to Loader.exe you will need a common USB-A male to micro-USB male cable to attach the Castles device to your PC.
If you have an MP200, this cable is included with the device for charging.
Loading the MP200 Device
If the device you have is already loaded with an application, please factory reset the device first. To do this, follow the instructions here:
https://help.kineticsmart.com/knowledge-base/factory-reset-a-device/#resetting-mp200
To begin loading an MP200 with the Kinetic Smart payment application, please download the following package and unzip the contents into a folder to use with Loader.exe:
https://kineticsmart.com/demo/files/kinetic_go/cmp200-uk-demo.zip
(despite being marked -uk, this package is also used for Irish demo/dev devices too)
You will now have a folder /vxupdate with a collection of files to be loaded.
On Windows, double click on Loader.exe to begin the loading application.
You will also have to place the MP200 into download mode and connect it using a USB-A to micro-USB cable to your PC.
On the device, exit any application that is running and enter the screen with the “Program Manager” title. If you cannot get to this screen, restart the device by pressing and holding down the power key until it restarts. When you see System Initializing and similar startup messages, press the red key repeatedly until you’re in Program Manager.
Press 0 for System Menu. If you are prompted for a password, enter 0000 and press the green key.
Then press 1 for Download AP and finally 1 to reach the Download EX screen. The device will show “Waiting file..”. You can leave the device in this state and return to Loader.exe.
Back in Loader, click Refresh to have COM Port: show the connected COM port for the MP200 device.
It’s unlikely, but if you don’t see any COM port being shown, the device you’re using might not be set up for USB download. To remedy this, follow these instructions: https://help.kineticsmart.com/knowledge-base/program-manager-settings-for-usb-download/
With Loader opened, click on the “folder and binoculars” icon on the center right of the window to select a file. Point to the sensor_disable.mmci file in the /vxupdate folder.
Once selected, click Download to start the process.
The entire download will take around 15 minutes to complete. There is a possibility that Loader.exe will report a timeout on the very last file. If this happens, it can be safely ignored and the device will reset once the validation its performing is complete.
Loading the Vega3000 Device
